A recent search for Michigan Business on Technorati brought up a whole host of undesireable offerings. Many of which were SPLOGS. That is SPAM BLOGS filled with meaningless content and sales drivel. Its enough to make the entire Blogosphere break down and cry. I do not suggest that any company go out there and create these by the zillions. Its just as bas as SPAM email - which by the way is a jailable offense. Its only a matter of time before the online world wakes up to this type of zombie like marketing and pulls the plug on it......
Here is more on the subject:
"Whats a splog? A splog is any blog whose creator doesn't add anywritten value. I'm sure some might argue that packaging data, such asnews feeds or the blog posts of others is added value. I dont think itis. After all, thats why there are topics and indexes. If I want information about the Dallas Mavericks, I can search for it, optimize it, and save it.
Because indexes are based on freshness, my searches are automaticallyupdated, freshest data first, as new posts are introduced. Howmany splogs are there and how many posts do they carry? It's difficultto quantify, but I wouldn't be shocked if we have excluded more than1mm of them at IceRocket. Want to get a good feel for how much splog is out there? Goto your favorite blog search engine and type in hair loss. Or you cantry Cialis, or Discount Tickets...
You get the idea. Anything that hasever been spammed about is spammed in monstrous proportions in theblogosphere because its so easy to do. Any traditional spam keyword will get you thousands if not more than 100k results, and thereare a ton of spamwords you can think of. What makes the problemparticularly frustrating is that it doesn't cost anything to setup ablog on what is probably the most common blog host, blogger.comfrom Google. It's fast, its easy, it's free and it can be automated. Soblogs are coming at us left and right. We are killing off thousands aday, but they keep on coming. Like Zombies.
It's straight from Night ofthe Living Dead. Brain dead splogs. Coming at us by the thousands. Bloggeris by far the worst offender. Google seems to be working hard to adjusttheir relevancy indexes to exclude splog from having influence onsearch rankings, but they don't seem to be doing anything more thanremoving reported splogs. Kind of like going after the zombies one at atime with a shovel. Can we get some help on this Google? (You can checkout weblogs.com to get a feel for just how much splog we are talking about.)
Google'sproblem with splog isn't just a blog search engine issue. It's an enduser issue as well. No splog detection algorithms are going to beperfect. Not only do we miss splog, but we take out innocent victimsalong the way as well. If you are an individual blogger whoseblog is hosted on blogspot.com, every day the chances of you beingexcluded from icerocket.com's, and other search engines' indexes increases. It's not just blogspot.com, pretty much 90plus percent ofblogs hosted on .info sites are splogs as well."

Does Michigan Have The Imagination For Real SEO?
As we begin another week in Michigan I am amazed at what I see in the paper. There is not one mention of any high tech news or any forward thinking articles appearing in the S.E. MI newspapers. Ever since the IPHONE fever has died down a lot of talk has shifted back to things that sell papers.... tragedy, falling bridges and Lindsey Lohan's driving record.
Still it is a little interesting to see how many companies are being taken in by ruthless PPC sellers. Perhaps the most disappointing news of all is that out of the recent statistics Pay Per Click has taken a real hit in popularity. 60% of the business population deal with PPC listings with great skepticism. The people who believe what they read with doubt falls into the 80% range.
That means that people do not trust products that are in the sponsored links column. Anyone who buys their way to the top runs the risk of not being very credible. This is what made Google change their algorithm recently.
** In the end all anyone really wants to find is credible content. Relevant content. That is to say we all need content that we can count on and trust.
.... and that would lead us to Search Engine Optimization, (SEO).

Inside Secrets To Monstrous Online Traffic
There is a lot of hope lately in the online world. There are many firms out there that demand that you buy your way to the top. Planning your online spending budget can get a little tricky.
Overall these techniques fall a little flat and leave you wondering what your next move should be. Instead of dumping more money into PPC its better to get creative.
WHATS NEW IN ONLINE TRAFFIC GENERATION?
The good news is there are ways to generate a substantial amount of online traffic for pennies. Most cases you won't have to pay a fortune every month. However you will need to find someone who has some online know how......
The recent splurge of online social groups have skyrocketed in recent months. There are huge pockets of potential customers on groups like LinkedIn.com and Myspace.com. Fortunately for the business class there are more social groups geared toward entrepreneurs and small business owners.
There are many video networks out there too that you should be aware of. In the old days of internet marketing, (just 18 months ago in fact) you had to buy server space and pay for bandwidth usage. These days things are a little easier to deal with.
Online Videos Are Accessible Through.....
* Ipods
* Iphones
* Blogs
* RSS feeds
* One page sites
* Web Sites
*** Search engines pay particularly close attention to these online methods. They also have a pecking order as to what each one should carry as far as content. Its very easy to get the right parts but have none of the right "guts" inserted so they can get you top traffic and rankings.
** The magic formula for this can work great. But you have to have everything in its proper place.

Powerful Profit Pills - and The Age of Being Media FIT
Stating your case for what you do as a business has never been more important. In fact, leaving your pre-recorded sales pitch has never been more easier. But only if you know where to put it.
There are several presentation software packages that will allow you to can your message. From here you can post them on your blogs or in your web sites for all to see. This is where marketing takes on an incredible new life.
Leaving a plethora of marketing materials for a full review and in easy access for your customers is a good idea. This should be your main goal.
THE IPHONE, IPOD AND ANTHONY ROBBINS
I recently came across an old recording on ITUNES on, "Awaken the Giant Within" by Tony Robbins. The message was that the mind will do anything to avoid pain. It is always trying to wriggle its way out of confrontations and uncomfortable situations. You can actually use this to make money with if you are smart enough to create the connection.
I believe in confrontation with my marketing messages. I would rather have a solid YES or a NO instead of hiding behind a Yellow Page Ad and praying for a phone call. The beauty of the technology in recent months is that the IPOD movement creates that instant accessibility. You can take your marketing video, podcast and presentation and shoot it across the internet. This can happen a lot quicker than you can imagine.
By putting all your cards on the table you can show the world what you can do. It is up for the consumer to figure out how they can use your services.
This is how FLASH should be used. You can get this done by using a program called Camtasia. You have the ability to record an entire PowerPoint presentation and save it as a SWF file and post it on your site.
Think of what this can do for your Michigan based business. By adding smart SEO to distribute your marketing messages and using RSS technology you can literally move mountains.
From there the rest is magic......
Check out one of these SEO presentations in action here....
RSS FEEDS AND MEDIA DISTRIBUTION
Now you can take that marketing message and deliver it throughout the Internet. By using a simple RSS feed and have subscription chicklets burned on your blogs you can have people subscribe to your marketing messages. This is truly powerful.
This type of distribution is really in its infacy. Its best to get started with it now and get your name out there. Your name can really grow as an industry leader if you get your messages out there starting today. Its amazing how many times I meet people on the street or when I am talking to vendors. They actually know who I am.
....its time to get confrontational.

IPHONE MARKETING - IS HERE !!
Click here to get your own player.
"NOW THAT THE LONG LINES ARE OVER - GET MARKETING !!!"
The recent quips from some of Michigans top CEO's seemed a bit befuddled and confused. They shake their heads in disbelief at the mere mention of using the IPHONE to market their products and services. The recent issue of Detroit Crains was about what I expected from Michigan's business community.
Meanwhile, the entire notion of marketing with mobile devices have taken a new road. I saw this explosion taking off in its infancy in New York City. I eagerly awaited its arrival in Michigan. If you have a daredevil attitude this could be the ticket for you. You may make an enemy here or there in the broadcasting circles but you must make a decision. You can either give your money away freely to an agency or a broadcast facility.....
Or you can take the bull by the horns and take control of your marketing.
This recent podcast by Ted Cantu, (SEO Search Quest) puts the record straight on what you can look forward to.
